Mexican Cigar Plant

Mexican cigar flower (common name) red in colour with brown black tip.

The cigar plant, Cuphea ignea, and its relative the mexican cigar C. micropetala, is quite common in many home gardens. They can be grown in frost free areas and like plenty of water if it is hot. They make a lovely border plant with nice red flowers. Birds and insects like them and no doubt people who grow these plants like them too... more
