a - A  'Angie antelope'

The second letter sound to teach is the  sound as in fan, man, can etc. To show the sound of the second letter 'a'  place a semi-circle over it. The small semi-circle symbol teaches your student that this letter sound is pronounced  as in antelope.

Step 1:

1. Review the previous letter learned.

2. Pronounce words beginning with that sound.

3. Show the coloured letter card.

Step 2:

1. Print: letter a in colour

Step 3:  

1. Show the letter to your student and pronounce the sound several times. 

2. Ask the student to repeat the letter sound several times.

3. Pronounce words that begin with the sound (Angie antelope ....).

Step 4: Print and complete the following worksheets in order:

1. letter a worksheet

2. the letter a

3. the letter A

4. print the 'alternative letter'
