i - I 'Inchworm is ill'
The next letter sound to teach is the
sound as in ill, if, inch, in, pin etc. The semi-circle above the
shows your student that it is short sounding. The long sounding letter 'i' has a stripe above it, as in ibis;
Step 1:
Quickly review the previous letters learned.
Pronounce words beginning with those sounds.
Show the coloured letter cards.
Step 2:
print: letter 'i' in colour
Step 3:
Show the letter
to your student and pronounce the sound several times.
Ask the student to repeat the letter sound several times.
Pronounce words that begin with the
sound (inchworm is ill....).
Step 4: Print and complete the following worksheets in order:
Step 5: Optional Biblical lesson. Read the Bible chapters indicated on the worksheet. Tracing the sentence will give your student practice in forming letters. These letters may not have been taught yet; print worksheet.
