Guinea pigs have four toes on each front foot and three toes on each back foot. So all up they have 14 toes. They can cause a nasty scratch if they are not happy with the way you're holding them. Some guinea pig owners will cut the sharp claws every now and then but if the animal has a wooden board or old log to scratch on, the claws should not need cutting. The guinea pig's feet are called paws. If you own a guinea pig you should check the pads on the paws for any calluses or spurs every now and then.
