When mating begins the male mantis follows an elaborate multistep dance-like ritual that can last a couple of hours. This unusual photo was taken of two males mating with one female on the underside of some shade cloth which was attached to a house. It appears they are caught in a spider web but this is not so. When they were finished, they easily left the spot and disappeared in a nearby bush. It is unsure which one of the males succeeded in mating, maybe both did.
