Algeria is situated on the
north coast of Africa and is the second largest country of the African
continent. It covers more than 2,300,000 square kilometres (900,000 square miles),
about four fifths of which is in the Sahara Desert. The country's Mediterranean
coastline extends about 1,000 kilometres (620 miles). Algeria is bordered by the
following countries: Tunisia, Libya, Niger, Mali, Mauritania, Western Sahara,
and Morocco.
