Senegal covers an area of 196,723 square kilometres (75,955 square miles), and is bounded by the Atlantic Ocean, Mauritania, Guinea and Guinea-Bissau. It surrounds Gambia. Wildlife is not abundant but includes monkeys, antelopes, lions, panthers, and hyenas. The wildlife is preserved in the Nokolo-Koba, Delta du Saloum, and Djoudj national parks. Turtles, crocodiles, and hippopotamuses are found in the rivers. French is the official language and tourism has become a major source of foreign revenue.
