Somalia is bordered by the
Indian Ocean, Djibouti, Ethiopia and Kenya. Somalia covers an area of 638,000 square
kilometres (246,300
square miles). Plains, plateaus, the Ogo Highlands
and Shimbir Berris, the highest peak, are of interest as well as the Juba and
Wabi Shebelle which are two major rivers. Wildlife includes lions, leopards,
elephants, hyenas, foxes, giraffes, and zebras. Somali and Arabic are the
official languages, but English and Italian are also spoken.
