Estimate population 29,559,400 - Capital City: Tashkent

Uzbekistan is bordered by Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Afghanistan. Its approximate area is 447,300 square kilometres (172,700 square miles). This dry, hot country lies between the beautiful Amu Darya and Syr Darya rivers.

For ancient culture and history you may like to explore the large city of Samarkand, which is located in the Zeravshan River valley. The Tashkent Museum of the History of the Peoples of Uzbekistan is definately an interesting place to visit. Other places of interest are towns such as Chirchik, Angren, Bekabad, Almalyk, Navoi, Yangiyul, Gulistan, and Yangiyer.
