The lovely Faeroes consists of twenty-two mountainous, volcanic islands and are also known as the Sheep Islands due to the large amount of sheep bred there. Fishing plays a major role as well. It belongs to the Danish group and lies in the Atlantic Ocean between the Shetland Islands and Iceland. It covers an area of approximately 1,400 sq km (540 sq miles). The largest islands are Streymoy and Esturoy.
