Iran

66,469,100 population - Capital: Tehran

Where else can you buy genuine silk Persian carpets but in Iran, or find a 17th century Royal Mosque located in the beautiful town of Isfahan. Culture and history form a major part of Iran with sights such as the Tomb of Imam Reza Ali, in Meshed, and the tomb of Chelibi Oghlu, in the village of Sultaniyeh. History can be traced as far back to the Achaemenian Dynasty, followed by the Parthian Dynasty, the Sassanid Empire, the Islamic Caliphate, the Safavid Dynasty, the Qajar Dynasty, the Pahlavi Dynasty, and the now existing Islamic Republic.

Beautiful mountain ranges of interest are Elburz, and Zagros with the highest peak being Qolleh-ye Damavand. For those who might enjoy Iran's cultural life visit Tehran, Mashhad, Esfahan, Tabriz, and Shiraz.
