The Syrian Arab
Republic is bordered by Turkey, Iraq, Jordan, Israel, Lebanon and the
Mediterranean Sea. Natural features such as Mount Hermon, Euphrates River
and the Orontes River dominate this varied landscape. Many people are
restricted to living where there is a reliable water supply which is
mainly on the coastal plain between the ports of Latakia and Tartus and
between the beautiful cities of Damascus and Aleppo.
