Yemen lies along the southeastern edge of the Arabian Peninsula and the islands of the Kamaran group in the Red Sea and Socotra in the Arabian Sea are under the control of Yemen as well. Yemen is bordered by Saudi Arabia, Oman, the Gulf of Aden, and the Red Sea. Interesting natural features of this delightful country are the Yemen Plateau, the Yemen Highlands with Hadur Shu'ayb being the highest point on the Arabian Peninsula, the Tihama which lies along the Red Sea, and a desert plateau which slopes into the Rub' al Khali.
