Australia is so big that it is called a continent. If you look at Australia on a map you will see that it has water all around. Australia is made up of the following states and territories; Western Australia, Northern Territory, Queensland, News South Wales, Australian Capital Territory, Victoria, Tasmania and South Australia. The cities are all close to the coast.
Most of the middle of Australia is hot desert so most people live along the coastline. Aboriginals form an important part of Australia's culture. People from many different countries live here too and are also part of Australia's culture. Lots of animals live in Australia like the kangaroo, wombat, koala, cockatoos, platypus, lizards and much more. The capital of Australia is Canberra.
