Saint Pierre and Miquelon are French territorials consisting of several barren but extremely interesting rocky islands located about 16 km (10 miles) off the south coast of Newfoundland. The capital is a delightful place called St. Pierre. Cod-fishing is one of the main industries here. It was seized by the free French in December 1941. The official language is French.
